Postdoc

I started as a postdoc researcher at the Department of Bionanoscience in March 2021 after a few months of delay caused by COVID restrictions.

I studied my master’s degrees in the fields of Applied Biophysics at Masaryk University and Biomedical Engineering at the University of Technology, both in Brno in the Czech Republic. During the masters, I focused on the preparation of supporting carbon-gold composites, which are used as well defined and robust sample supportvon TEM grids, and also on the single-particle analysis of protein structures from noisy datasets.

I finished my PhD at the Brno University of Technology in 2020 with the topic of Quantitative Imaging in a Scanning Electron Microscope and its methodological development. The main part describes STEM-BSE detector calibration techniques necessary for quantitative imaging and ways how to circumvent their necessity. During this work at the Institute of Scientific Instruments of the Czech Academy of Sciences, I started with the development of devices for cryoSEM. Here at TU Delft, I will work on Cryogenic Superresolution Fluorescence Targeting for FIB Milling in Electron Cryo-tomography, jointly between the Jakobi Lab and the [Hoogenboom Lab] at ImPhys. It is a wide and interdisciplinary field dealing with the instrumental development of correlative imaging and sample preparation.

Outside work, I spend my free time with my young daughters at home or on trips in the country.
